Gator ... a Wagleri Conure
Belongs to ... Linda & Vic
We answered a email for a good home for a Wagleri Conure as Gator's owners were moving out of country
and they didn't want to put Gator through a 90-day quarantine with no human contact.
Instead they wanted Gator to find new humans that he would like to live with.
After visiting Gator in his own environment we knew we would be undertaking a lot as Gator was
loud and not used to stepping up on skin. Additionally Gator spoke another language.
When we arrived home from our visit, there was a message to contact the lady as she had decided that
we were the right people so Gator became ours.
Gator is sometimes loud. At first very loud but over time he has brought his loud voice down quite a
bit. We have found that if you enter a room it's important to talk to him first otherwise he feels
left out.
Gator is learning English and "tickle" is his favorite word, however he is also learning "baby" -
he has the "ba" of "baby" so far.
Gator loves to hear his name and be talked about. He sits outside his cage all day long and plays
with toys and us when we are with him. We are fortunate to be home all day and this helps.
We were looking for a home for him as this is what bird rescue is all about; however Gator chose Vic
as his new human and sometimes we have no control on this. When a bird picks his human then that is
the end of the search. Gator was ours. We immediately contacted a few people we know and now Gator
resides in a Berretta cage with lots of room. He was in a parrot cage before but I love my birds to
have the biggest possible cage.
Gator is now showing lots of love since he was bird of the month in October 2003 and he found that he
loves us as much as we love him.
GATOR is home.
