Agenda
Recap on Dec’s Christmas Party: The Christmas party was a wonderful success. We had lovely food in the form of a potluck dinner and enjoyed the company of friends at the Elks Hall. Linda and Vic and Joelle were kind enough to bring their handicrafts for all to get a chance to purchase some early Christmas giftsl.
Recap on Nov’s Meeting: Joelle’s White Capped Pionus was bird of the month and Joelle also did our research study on the safety of using candles in home that have birds. She brought with her some "SAFE" beeswax candles for us all to look at. Please see the website for the full breakdown of the "Safety of Candles":

Just for Laughs
One day a man went to an auction. While there, he bid on an exotic parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid, so he bid higher and higher and higher. Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the fine bird was finally his! As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the Auctioneer, "I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to find out that he can't talk!" "Don't worry", said the Auctioneer, "He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"

Pet of the month
The "Pet of the Month" for November was Cee Cee the White Capped Pionus. Cee Cee lives with Joelle and shares her home with 3 other parrots. Cesear was Cee Cee’s original name before it was discovered she is a girl. Joelle works in a facility with Seniors and Cee Cee regularly visits and brings much love at "her" workplace.

Book Review

The Complete Parrot
By Arthur Freud
.
Published June 1995 by Howell Book House.
An absolutely beautiful book. I mean, look at the cover...it's stunning! I love the photography, especially the blue mutation of the yellow nape amazon. Nice sections on the various types of parrots and quite a good basic section on the breeding of parrots.
Interesting parrot facts
The origin of the word Cockatoo -
In Melanesia, a spirit bird, born from a woman called Krawata. It steals bread from women's ovens.Quote of the month
The sincerest form of flattery is to be pooped on by a parrot!
